Browne's Return to Work Stand Down Day Sets Tone for a Safe and Successful 2024

In a proactive move to kickstart the new year, Browne conducted a company-wide Return to Work Stand Down Day, placing a strong emphasis on health and safety best practices. The event provided an opportunity for our people to reflect on the successes of 2023, with a remarkable achievement of surpassing 1000 days since the last RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases, and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) incident.

One of the highlights of the day was the insightful presentation by guest speaker Jason Anker, who holds an MBE for his exemplary contributions to health and safety. Jason shared a compelling personal story that underscored the crucial connection between well-being and effective health and safety practices. His focus on working at height was particularly relevant for our teams engaged in Reservoir contracts.

Lyle James, Browne's Head of SHEQ, delivered a comprehensive overview of the company's health and safety performance in 2023. Celebrating significant milestones, such as the impressive RIDDOR-free period and the outperformance of key contracts in service avoidance. The presentation set a positive tone for the year ahead.

Following the presentations, we hosted a playback session, encouraging active participation from attendees. Team leaders facilitated discussions on health and safety performance, prompting our people to share insights and feedback. This interactive approach aimed to further develop Browne's health and safety systems and processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Looking forward, we’re gearing up for our second Return to Work Stand Down Day next week, featuring Steven Kirby as the guest speaker. Steven will deliver a presentation on the risks associated with stored energy and pressurized systems, aligning with Browne's key focus areas for the year. This session promises to be particularly relevant for teams involved in Renewable Infrastructure, Complex Delivery and Mains Replacement projects.

Browne remains committed to prioritizing health and safety, ensuring that all our people are well-equipped and informed to navigate potential risks in their respective roles. The Return to Work Stand Down Day series serves as a crucial platform for collective reflection, learning, and setting the stage for another successful year at Browne.
