We owe our success to the people who work here, and we constantly invest in training and development to help them develop to their full potential and enjoy long and rewarding careers with us.
Our training focuses on specific task-based skills as well as management and behavioural courses. It encompasses:
We give all our managers – from supervisors through to contract managers – full training for their roles and have recently employed Reed Training to provide a bespoke management course for supervisors, project managers and contract managers. This is a 5-day course which is externally recognised and concentrates on management topics such as team building, communication, seeing the bigger picture and efficient site management. We have also introduced our Cultural Behavioural Safety management programme across the business – it examines the principles of behavioural safety in detail and looks at how to build a good safety culture on site.
We encourage our staff to continue their education and, wherever possible, we support them through various professional qualifications. This extends from part-time engineering and surveying degrees and diplomas through to study breaks to gain professional status via RICS and ICE.
We also run a graduate programme which gives graduates work experience across our business. Our most recent graduate, Paul Davis, was nominated for the Young Person of the Year Award at Thames Water’s safety awards in 2014 as part of his work on Thames Tideway Tunnel.
