Successful completion of a number of contracts in recent years, has established J. Browne Construction as a competent contractor for the delivery of environmental works.

We have worked for numerous local authorities and utility companies in London and the Home Counties completing town centre enhancement schemes, lake de-silting, fuel containment solutions, works in and around watercourses and general environmental improvements.

The following are a few examples of completed environmental enhancement projects:-

Rayleigh Town Centre Environmental Improvements Phases 1 & 2 – Storm water and surface water drainage works, footway re-modelling and pedestrianisation scheme, specialist surfacing, decorative paving, external works and street lighting.

Petticoat Lane Market, Wentworth Street / Old Castle Street Initiative & Improvement Phases 1 & 2 – Construction of a number of kiosks and stores, artistic paving, general paving, taking up and disposing of existing tarmac and replacing with block paving.

The SSHAPE (Southend Seafront, High Street and Pier Enhancement) Project – Paving, landscaping, street lighting and installation of street furniture. This contract was demanding with a high level of phased working in a busy retail environment. Due to our excellent performance on Phase 2 of the project, particularly in terms of our good communication with local stakeholders, we were awarded Phase 3. This success was been formally recognised with a Considerate Constructor Scheme award.

Pymmes Park – Desilting of lakes, management of contaminated waste, gabion basket retaining walls, general civil engineering and hard and soft landscaping in an environmentally sensitive area with a fragile ecosystem.

Moor Mill, Radlett – Extensive repairs to a 400 year old public house with mill, which backs onto a river, including installation of a temporary dam, rendering existing walls, fitting a new bitumen based waterproofing membrane, reconstruction of new external brick walls, removal of silt build up in the millhead, new rainwater drainage, new paving and new hand railing.
