J. Browne Construction has carried out highways and public realm works for virtually all of the London Boroughs as well as many of the non-Metropolitan local authorities in the South East.

We have undertaken term contracts encompassing maintenance of roads, footpaths, schools, parks, lakes, subways, pumping stations, gully cleansing, land drainage and minor sewer works.

We have also carried numerous individual projects for local authorities ranging from simple footway re-construction to complete town centre enhancement schemes.

At Southend on Sea Town Centre we worked closely with RSW Partnership (design-engineer-manage consultant) and CED Ltd (suppliers and technical advisers for natural stone products and applications) together with Southend on Sea Council on the their flagship refurbishment of Southend on Sea High Street (www.southend.gov.uk/news/?id=1675).

This project included paving, landscaping, street lighting and installation of street furniture.  The contract was demanding with a high level of phased working in a busy retail environment. Due to our excellent performance, particularly in terms of our good communication with local stakeholders, we were awarded the second phase of the project. This success has been formally recognised with a Considerate Constructor Scheme award.

Through our skilled direct labour workforce and owned plant, we have the capability to carry out any new or re-construction work associated with the highway including footway construction, carriageway construction, cycle ways, bus lanes, car park construction, re-surfacing, specialist surfacing, street lighting, street furniture and the erection of art works.
